Woman, infant killed as car plunges into canal in Karnataka

A tragic accident in Hassan district claimed the lives of a young mother and her one-and-a-half-year-old child after their car plunged into the Hemavathi canal on NH-75 near Channarayapatna. Four others were injured in the crash. The family was returning from Dharmasthala when the vehicle lost control. Police suspect overspeeding and have launched an investigation.
