Woman carries rare 'stone baby' in her body for nine years, dies in US

A 50-year-old Congolese refugee has died in US after she carried a rare "stone baby" in her body for nine years. Scans revealed that the calcified foetus, also called lithopedion, lodged in her lower abdomen which was pressing on her bowel. "She died due to severe malnutrition in the context of recurrent bowel obstruction due to the lithopedion," researchers said.
