Woman killed by BMC truck; residents block Turbhe road

A 50-year-old woman, Chhaya Gaikwad, was killed after being hit by a BMC garbage vehicle while crossing Thane-Belapur Road near Turbhe railway station on Monday. Angry residents staged a road blockade, demanding a pending flyover's completion and a temporary pedestrian bridge. Police intervened to clear protesters. The junction has seen 23 deaths in 10 years.
