Woman saves thousands of animals on pilgrimage routes from cruelty
A woman, named Gauri Maulekhi, is saving thousands of animals from cruelty along pilgrimage routes, according to The Better India. In 2012, she started People for Animals, Uttarakhand, and helped build the state's only equine sanctuary for injured and abandoned horses, mules and donkeys. As a child, she lost her pet because veterinary care wasn't available in time.
