World needs to spend at least $100 bn on new tools to fight COVID-19: WHO

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that the world needs to spend at least $100 billion on new tools, especially vaccines, to fight the coronavirus pandemic. "The first and most immediate need is $31.3 billion for the ACT [Access to COVID-19 Tools] Accelerator," he added. Over 750,000 people have died due to COVID-19 globally, according to Johns Hopkins University.
