World record for fastest internet speed set by Japan at 1.02 million Gbps

Japan's National Institute of Information and Communications Technology scientists recently set the world record for the fastest internet speed. They transferred data at 1.02 petabits per second (1.02 million Gbps) over a distance of 1,808 kilometres. They achieved the feat using their special coupled 19-core optical fibre with a standard cladding diameter of 0.125 mm.
