World set to overshoot critical 1.5 threshold for global warming, fails goal
According to UN Environment Programme, the world has failed in its goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above preindustrial times as the threshold is likely to be breached within next few years, raising climate risks. The most optimistic scenario will see temperature rise peak at 1.8°C above pre-industrial levels, which is above the 1.5°C set by the Paris Agreement.
