World Zoonoses Day raises awareness of animal-borne diseases

World Zoonoses Day, observed on July 6, highlights the growing threat of zoonotic diseases, infections that spread from animals to humans. With nearly 75% of emerging infectious diseases originating in animals, experts stress stronger disease surveillance, responsible animal handling, wildlife protection and a One Health approach to help prevent future outbreaks and pandemics.
