World's 1st 8K resolution broadcast begins in Japan

Japan's largest public broadcaster NHK has started the world's first 8K resolution regular TV satellite broadcast, which is 16 times as sharp as 1080p and allows 22.2-channel audio. The 'Super Hi-Vision' test channel was launched on Monday and broadcasts content in both 4K and 8K resolutions, and NHK is installing viewing stations across Japan to showcase footage from Rio Olympics.
