World's first death from H5N2 bird flu reported in Mexico
World Health Organization reported death of a 59-year-old Mexico man, who was the world's first known case of infection by H5N2 strain of bird flu viruses. "Although source of exposure to the virus...is currently unknown, A(H5N2) viruses have been reported in poultry in Mexico," it said. The man had chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes, Mexico's Health Ministry said.
