World's largest coal miner Coal India's annual output falls for 1st time in 21 yrs

Coal India's annual output fell for the first time since 1998-99 as heavy rains at coal mining regions disrupted production and an economic slowdown impacted coal demand. The world's largest coal miner produced 602.1 million tonnes of coal in 2019-20, compared with 606.9 million tonnes in 2018-19. The state-run company accounts for over 80% of the country's coal production.
