The world's longest chain of continental volcanoes stretching for over 2,000 km has been found in Australia and whose formation started 33 million years ago. The volcanic chain stretches in a general south-west direction along Eastern Australia. Unlike other volcanoes which are found near tectonic plate boundaries, this chain of volcanoes was found away from any such boundary.
