The world's oldest fish-hooks, believed to be around 23,000 years old, have been found in excavations on Okinawa Island in Japan. Researchers claim the fish-hooks are made from snail shells and show that fishing technology was developed earlier than thought previously. The findings of the excavation indicate the island has been continuously occupied by humans for 35,000 years.
