World's oldest operating roller coaster is in Melbourne

The Scenic Railway at Luna Park in Australia's Melbourne city has been recognised as the world's oldest continuously operating roller coaster by Guinness World Records. The wooden roller coaster has been operating since it was opened to the public on December 13, 1912. It was designed by American La Marcus Adna Thompson, considered the 'father of the modern roller coaster.'
