Xi inaugurates South America's first Chinese-funded port in Peru
Chinese President Xi Jinping inaugurated a China-funded mega port in Peru, the first such port in South America. Xi termed the Chancay megaport, a $1.3 billion (€1.23 billion) investment from China, a "21st-century maritime Silk Road." "Considerable income and enormous job opportunities will be generated for Peru," Xi said in Lima, while meeting Peruvian President Dina Boluarte.
