Xiaomi starts laying off over 5,250 employees: Report

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has started laying off employees in several units of its smartphone and internet services business, South China Morning Post reported. The latest move is likely to impact more than 5,250 employees or 15% of Xiaomi's 35,314-member workforce. Thousands of workers, many of whom were hired during a recent hiring spree, could be fired, the report said.
