Yemen’s leader announces military operation to retake Houthi-held territory

Yemen's leader has announced the beginning of a major military operation against the Iran-backed Houthis, with the aim of retaking the territory under their control. Yemen's President Al-Alimi said the decision comes after all opportunities for de-escalation had been exhausted. Notably, the Houthi movement captured Yemen's capital, Sanaa, in 2014 and has controlled it for more than a decade.
