Guinness World Records tweeted, "Yes, we were once owned by the Guinness Brewery and no, we don't now get unlimited supplies." It began as an idea for a book of facts to solve arguments in pubs and was first published in 1955 by Dublin-based Guinness Brewery's MD Hugh Beaver. The franchise is owned by Canada's Jim Pattison Group since 2008.
