YouTube to count views from first frame, starting Aug 24

YouTube will count a view the moment a video begins playing, effective August 24, 2026, across long-form videos, Shorts, and live streams. While public view counts may rise, creator earnings won't be affected. Monetisation will still depend on engaged watch hours and Shorts views, not raw public view counts.
