YouTube to remove 'overlay ads' on videos next month

YouTube on Monday announced that it would remove 'overlay ads' format from the platform, starting April 6. In a statement, the company said 'overlay ads', which only appeared on desktops, were "disruptive for viewers". "We expect to see limited impact for most creators as engagement shifts to other ad formats," the company added.
