Zambia's first President Kenneth Kaunda dies aged 97

Zambia's first President, Kenneth Kaunda, has died at the age of 97. Kaunda, popularly known as KK, was admitted to a military hospital in the capital Lusaka on Monday, suffering from pneumonia. Kaunda had ruled Zambia from 1964, when the nation won its independence from Britain, until 1991. Kaunda also championed Africa's struggles against HIV/AIDS and apartheid in South Africa.
