₹500, ₹1,000 notes form 86% of total money in circulation

Out of reportedly ₹16.4 lakh crore currency bank notes in circulation, 86% are ₹1,000 and ₹500 currency notes. New ₹500 and ₹2,000 currency notes have been introduced, which will arrive in the ATMs for the public from November 11. The scrapping of the old ₹500, ₹1,000 currency notes was reportedly in the works for the last six months.
