₹6,808-cr tunnel to connect Srinagar, Leh, Kargil approved

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved the ₹6,808-crore Zojila Tunnel project, aimed at providing all-weather connectivity between Srinagar, Kargil, and Leh. The bi-directional tunnel will reportedly reduce the time taken to cross Zojila Pass from 3.5 hours to 15 minutes. The construction of the tunnel is expected to be completed in seven years.
