After BCCI announced ₹7.5-lakh match fee for IPL players, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said the decision was taken keeping in mind the lower-paid players who at times continue to play the entire tournament. "If they get picked for...lesser amount during the auction...they get a respectable amount," he explained. He stated the idea is to "derive the maximum benefit" to players.
