Bihar government sounded flood alert on regions located near Kosi, Gandak and Ganga in northern and central parts of the state following release of water from Valmikinagar and Birpur barrages. "Due to heavy rains in Nepal, water discharge in rivers has increased significantly on Saturday," Water Resources Department said. This can likely affect over 16 lakh people in the state.
