Osteoarthritis affects 500M+ people worldwide by wearing away the knee cartilage. However, the current treatments mostly focus on managing pain rather than total joint replacements. Scientists at IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi have successfully regrown healthy joint cartilage in rats using a novel 3D-printed silk-and-gelatin implant laced with a targeted drug.
