60% of world's wild coffee species at risk of extinction: Study

The first full assessment of risks to the world's coffee plants has found 60% of 124 known species are on the edge of extinction due to climate change, deforestation, and diseases. This includes the wild relative of Coffea arabica, the most widely traded coffee, said researchers, as the majority of commercial coffee beans are blended from Arabica and Coffea robusta.
