Badshah has deposited ₹5 lakh in Bengali folk artist Ratan Kahar's account after he was accused of plagiarising his song 'Genda Phool' from Ratan's 1970s lyrics. This comes after Badshah denied the allegations and promised to help out the folk artist on "humanitarian grounds". Talking about it, Ratan said, "Money isn't everything, I'm happy as he's credited me as...composer of...lyrics."
