The BJP-led government in West Bengal has restored general consent to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), paving way for it to conduct investigations in matters relating to employees of Centre, public sector undertakings and private persons. Notably, Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government in the state had withdrew the permission on November 16, 2018. BJP won the 2026 Assembly elections.
