Canada's Governor General Julie Payette has resigned amid allegations of workplace harassment. The government had launched a third-party investigation of harassment claims after current and former government employees accused Payette of creating a "toxic" workplace in which staff were "bullied to tears". She took office in October 2017 for a five-year term on PM Justin Trudeau's recommendation.
