The Centre plans to cut states' tax revenue share from 41% to at least 40% from FY27, Reuters reported. The suggestion will be made to the Finance Commission after it receives approval from PM Narendra Modi-led cabinet by March end. The 1% cut could give the Centre about ₹35,000 crore, based on the expected tax collections for the current year.
