Cook left fryer on & went to make tea, fled as fire grew: Police on Delhi hotel fire

The fire at a hotel in Delhi's Malviya Nagar began after cook Keshav Negi inadvertently left a fryer containing oil switched on and went to prepare tea for himself, police said. The overheated oil burst into flames, which spread to the ceiling and nearby combustible material. Negi initially tried to douse fire but fled when it grew beyond his control.
