CRPF officer Harshpal Singh was awarded Kirti Chakra on Independence Day for displaying exemplary bravery in an operation wherein three JeM terrorists were killed. Singh, who has received several gallantry awards since he joined CRPF in 2004, had continued fighting despite suffering bullet and grenade blast injuries. He said, "I'm elated. I'm also feeling good for my Battalion, my organisation."
