Union Minister Nityanand Rai criticised DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran for his remark against migrants of UP and Bihar, saying that Maran has disrespected sanitation workers. He further said, "This is PM Narendra Modi's India where sanitation workers are worshipped…Dayanidhi Maran’s remarks [aimed at] creating a north-south divide in the country. He must know that such attempts will not fructify."
