The Bulgarian government overturned the death sentence awarded to a pregnant cow that had crossed European Union borders without adequate paperwork. Penka the cow wandered away from her herd in Bulgaria and crossed into neighbouring Serbia last month. Bulgaria repealed the death penalty after receiving backlash from animal rights campaigners.
