Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami honoured an elderly couple with a bravery award and ₹2 lakh cash on Independence Day after a video of them fighting and chasing away two robbers surfaced recently. Shanmugavel and his wife Senthamarai from Tirunelveli fought off sickle-wielding robbers by throwing slippers and chairs on them. Shanmugavel even broke a stool on robber's head.
