West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Saturday wrote to Election Commission to ensure "peaceful and impartial" voting in the state. "In the final phase of election [on May 19], I would request you...to kindly ensure that election is completed...without any undue interference of Central government," she added. Mamata also requested EC to "protect democratic institutions and federal structure" of India.
