According to a MediaNama report, the government sold data of 25 crore vehicles and driving licences between 2014 and 2019 for ₹68 crore. Companies including Ola, SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, United India Insurance, Reliance General Insurance, and Bajaj Finance bought the data. Notably, the government this year approved a policy to let a company buy data for ₹3 crore.
