The Supreme Court has criticised the tax authorities for resorting to "draconian" provisional attachment under Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, saying they can't see all businesses as "fraudulent". "The Parliament had intended the GST to be a citizen-friendly tax structure...the purpose of the Act is lost in the manner in which it is enforced," an SC bench added.
