External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently quoted Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping's remarks on India and China, saying, "The Asian century will be difficult to happen if India and China don't come together." Chinese Foreign Ministry backed his remarks, saying China and India have "far more common interests than differences". Jaishankar also said Indo-China relations were in a "difficult phase".
