The Income Tax department on Friday arrested and jailed a businessman for six months from Karnataka's Tumakuru for defaulting tax to the tune of ₹7.35 crore. IT department said taxpayer failed to appear before the tax recovery officer on 17 occasions. He appeared following a show-cause notice in October but could not offer any explanation for non-payment of due taxes.
