The High Level Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has recommended making CSR expenditure tax-deductible. The committee's report was submitted by Chairman Injeti Srinivas to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. It also recommended that non-compliance be treated as a civil offence that attracts penalties and allow firms to carry forward the unspent balance for a period of 3-5 years.
