US authorities have said a man took hostages at a Texas synagogue and was demanding the release of a Pakistani neuroscientist Aafia Siddiqui, who was convicted of trying to kill US Army officers in Afghanistan. At least four hostages were reportedly believed to be inside the synagogue. Texas Governor Greg Abbott later tweeted, "All hostages are out alive and safe".
