India's biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki posted a jump in sales for the first time in nine months in October, coinciding with festival season. Total sales rose 4.5% from a year ago to 1,53,435 vehicles amid an economic slowdown. India's car sales had declined for 11 consecutive months through September and the industry has been forced to cut production and jobs.
