MIT testing insulin pills for diabetes to replace injections

MIT-led researchers have revealed they are testing blueberry-sized pills on pigs that could be used to orally deliver insulin, potentially replacing every day injections for people with type 2 diabetes. The pills contain a single needle with a nearly 100% insulin tip attached to a compressed spring, held by a dissolvable sugar disk, which gets injected into the stomach wall.
