Painter Claude Monet’s 1890 oil painting of haystacks titled 'Meules' was sold for $110.7 million (over ₹778 crore) in New York on Tuesday, a new world record for a work by the French artist. It's the ninth-most expensive work ever sold at an auction. Haystacks series had 25 paintings, the majority of which are at art galleries across the world.
