The Union Budget for 2023-24 allocated ₹19,592 crore for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, General Manager of Central Railway Naresh Lalwani said. In the 2022-23 budget, the government had allotted ₹5,000 crore for the project when work was largely restricted to Gujarat. "We have taken up pillar work on a 140 km stretch in Gujarat," Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated.
