Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has said his prediction of 1.5% cut in the GDP growth rate after demonetisation has come true. Claiming that demonetisation had been hugely "detrimental" to India in the 21st century, Chidambaram said, "A demonetisation like grief shouldn't befall on any country." While the GDP growth rate was 8.2% in 2015-16, it was 6.7% in 2017-18.
