Mukesh Kumar Singh, a convict in Nirbhaya case, moved to the Supreme Court seeking urgent hearing on his plea against his mercy petition dismissal by President. Taking plea into cognisance, a bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde said, "If somebody is going to be hanged then nothing else can be more urgent." President dismissed Singh's plea on January 17.
