Nurses and nursing students across Maharashtra have started protests and have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from Saturday against privatising hiring process. A government resolution issued in April stated that 1,769 of 4,500 vacant posts under DMER could be filled by outsourcing the hiring to an external agency. Nurses are demanding that the government scrap this order.
